Bernard graduated from Maastricht University, specialising in European law. He has been an attorney since 2002 and specialises in employment law. In 2007, he completed the Postgraduate Course in Employment Law. He advises companies in various sectors, including the offshore, shipbuilding and IT sectors, as well as organisations in the healthcare and education sectors. His practice includes, amongst other things, reorganisations, dismissals, regulations concerning sick leave, the harmonisation of terms and conditions of employment, and issues relating to employee participation rights. He has developed particular expertise in the classification of employment contracts (bogus self-employment) and the position of a statutory director.
